Day 2

After breakfast and check out, drive to the Ngorongori Crater. Ngorongoro Crater is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest un flooded and unbroken caldera in the world, measuring about 20 kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area. Other important features found in the NCA are the archaeological and paleontological site located at Olduvai Gorge and the early human foot-prints that were discovered at Alaitole in Ngarusi area. Because of these particular features and the harmonious co-existence between wildlife and people that has existed for many years, Ngorongoro Conservation Area was accorded the status of a World Heritage Site. The high walls of the crater itself, serve as a natural enclosure for an abundance of wildlife. There is a large resident population of varied ground game with the very real chance of you being able to see the "big five'. Among the notable birds are Lammergeyer, Vereaux's Eagle and Egyptian Vulture, which make their home in the highest of the crater wall, the beautiful Rosy-breasted Long claw, which appears on the plains after rains and flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos which are spasmodic visitors to the crater lakes.

Head to your Lodge, perched on the crater rim, in time to see the sunset before enjoying a much deserved hot shower and dinner.

Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge ( Full Board )
Day 3

You will depart after breakfast and make your way to Ngorongoro area. After clearing with paper work at the gate, you will drive to the Empakaai Crater camp that is set on the rim. Empakaai Crater lies some 40km north-east of Tanzania's famous Ngorongoro Crater. This extraordinary caldera (collapsed volcano) consists of a ring of cliffs encircling, some 300m below, a salt lake around 6km across.

The walk down will take around half an hour. Allow at least an hour on the floor - it takes around 4 hours to walk round the lake. It will take 45mins to 1 hr back up the steep path, it is nonetheless a remarkable place that is worth visiting for walking with beautiful scenery and magnificent horizons.

Overnight at Empakai Crater Camp (Full board)

Day 4

Today we will venture on through the African plains and walk for approximately 5 hours before relaxing at our Acacia Tree Camp. Walking safaris provide a different perspective as you tread cautiously through the bush and your senses become acutely attuned to the smells of the wilderness and the close presence of game that surrounds you. The camp will be set on the ridge between rift valley walls with the best views of the peak of Oldonyo Lengai.

Overnight at Acacia camp (Full board).

Day 5

In the morning leave Acacia Camp, hike down through rift valley, on ridges from Oldoinyo Lengai Mountain to the savannah landscape of Lake Natron. Oldoinyo Lengai means the Mountain of God in the Maasai language. The summit of this strato-volcano is 2962 meters above sea level, and affords direct views into the caldera of Tanzania’s only officially-certified active volcano, and the world’s only
carbonated volcano. Records of eruptions have been maintained since 1883, the largest of which deposited ash 100 kilometers away in Loliondo on the Kenyan border to the North West.

Overnight at Lake Natron camp (Full board).
Day 6

Early morning ascend Oldoinyo Lengai Mountain and in the late afternoon visit Lake Natron. Lake Natron is a salt and soda lake in the Arusha Region of northern Tanzania. The lake is close to the Kenyan border and is in the Gregory Rift which is the eastern branch of the East African rift valley, The Lake is fed principally by the Eswaro Ngiro River which rises in central Kenya. The lake is the only regular breeding area for the 2.5 million lesser flamingoes, whose status of near threatened results from their dependence on this one location. Also the lake can support more nests. These flamingoes, the single large flock in East Africa, gather along nearby saline lakes to feed on blue - green algae with red pigments. The lake has inspired the poetic nature documentary for its close relationship with the lesser flamingoes as their only regular breeding area.

Overnight at Lake Natron camp (Full board).
Day 7

After breakfast you will joined by your Travel driver guide and head to Tarangire arriving at the camp in time for Lunch. You will check in to your rooms and after refreshing up, you will enjoy lunch in the outdoor dining room. Relax for the rest of the day, either at the pool, or from the unique vantage point of your tree top bedroom.

Overnight at Tarangire Tree Tops Lodge – Tent (Full Board)

Day 8

After an early wake-up call you will head out to spend the whole day in the Tarangire National park complete with picnic lunch. Tarangire National Park extends over some 2,600 sq km (1,615 square miles) in the Rift Valley. Arid and studded with giant termite mounds, it is here that you can witness massive herds of elephant with some reaching as many as 500. During the dry season the park becomes a haven for many migratory species and this is the best time to see animals as they cluster around various water sources. When the rains arrive the animals become more widely distributed once more and the region’s swamps are alive with bird life. The many herds of elephant, buffalo, wildebeest, impala, gazelle and eland feast on the green shoots, eventually depleting them and being forced to return to the river systems once more.

Overnight at Tarangire Tree Tops Lodge – Tent (Full Board)

Day 9

After breakfast and check out, you will be transferred to Arusha for a day room at Mount Meru Game Lodge. After lunch, and depending on your International flight details, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight home. End of services.
